With so much to see, do and eat, Belize City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean and the world at large. If you are looking for a bit of darkness and fun, San Pedro with its cosy cafés and relaxed atmosphere may be the right choice for you. But if you're more interested in exploring the top hotspots like the Grand Canyon, the Royal Caribbean or the beautiful beaches, then this is the place to be.
Visit Belize City and discover the variety of restaurants and nightclubs on the beach or visit one of the many bars and restaurants on the main street of the city, San Pedro.
Tamarindo, Santa Teresa and San Jose offer a vibrant nightlife while maintaining the relaxed appeal that Costa Rica so highlights. The Belize scene is very relaxed, with beach bars and clubs as the main attractions. After dark, almost everything is on offer, from the beach to the backyard - a beach bar, and there are many nightclubs where you can dance and also relax.
One of our favorite things to do in San Pedro, however, is to have fun at night in one of the beach bars, and it's hard to go without at least one or two drinks in one night.
This is the only nightclub that opens at midnight, which means you'll find everyone who ends up there. The three-story Reggae Bar is best suited for friends and house parties when the sun sets over Caye Caulker.
Belize City's nightlife is really good on Fridays and Saturdays, but even then you won't get there until after midnight. The city is deserted after 9pm as hard-drinking, often rowdy locals in the capital Belize often visit the open bars. If you really want to indulge in the local culture, visit the late-night spots, which offer late-night drink specials and live music. There is a good chance that you will be in one or two of these games and even if you don't, you will arrive before midnight and you will find many seats empty.
If you are on a budget, choosing a hostel in Belize City instead of a hotel is the best option to keep your money in your pocket. You can also get good deals by booking a room at Caye Caulker or Ambergris Cayes through this online link. When visiting San Pedro, I recommend you look for cheap hotel rooms or private apartments, as the nightlife will accompany you for a bit.
If you are in Caye Caulker to enjoy the nightlife, I would suggest you go and take the shuttle boat to Koko King. If you come to Belize for scuba diving, you can also do night scuba diving in the Cayes or Ambergris Cayes. While a midnight walk is always a good option, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not at least once see the nightlife of Belizing.
Exploring the nightlife of the region and exploring the islands on holiday can be great fun. There is never a dull moment at night in the city and you can take a walk, go to a night market or shop, enjoy a live music show in a pub or just hang out in a bar.
There are tons of different cities and neighborhoods to visit and choose where to stay, and it can be overwhelming. Experienced travellers follow the advice of locals and go to the sports bars located in most major metropolitan areas of Belize.
Jaco is a well-known surfing and party town in Belize City, popular with groups of young travelers. San Pedro is particularly popular because it is home to beach bars, restaurants and nightclubs that offer a wide range of music, food, drinks, dance, entertainment and more. When it's time to party on the beach, head to the Beatles Bar to listen to the best music Cubans are famous for and enjoy a good meal.
In Belize City, the main attractions are usually the top hotels, which usually have live bands, but there are many smaller bars, restaurants and nightclubs in other parts of the city. The nightlife headquarters is located near the central business district with restaurants, bars and clubs, as well as a large number of hotels.
Most of the nightlife in the city is right on the beach, so it seems natural that the many bars and clubs in San Pedro are right on the beach, giving you the perfect tropical holiday feeling. This is not true of San Pedrano, they joke, because they know nothing about the fish, but it does mean a great place where hammocks are waiting for you to depopulate.
Belize has a somewhat shady reputation for after-hours activities, so be sure to check out the bars after 2300, especially in Belize City. It is easy to get up early for a holiday party and still sleep well, but you have to take care of it when you leave the bar at 11.30pm and leave at 10.30 pm, and especially after midnight.
